The library is amazing! It is newly reconstructed with an amazing kids area. Huge selection of books but an inside play area for kids to explore. Great stop on a rainy day. The kids under 6 can play on the indoor boat and Ranger Station.

I have visited numerous local libraries around Maryland and almost all get the right balance of space for children and space for adults to read, study, or work. This is NOT one of them.

What a wonderful library! They have so many resources for children. Beautiful space and great selection of materials, too.

I feel bad giving this library such a bad review since the staff was really friendly and helpful. However, this is one of the most poorly constructed and designed libraries I've ever visited. This place is unbelievably LOUD. It's literally a playground for children in the middle of some books. It's impossible to study or be productive in any way. The architect of the library should be ashamed and embarrassed at this failure. I understand and respect that children need a place to play and learn. However, the middle of library is not appropriate.

Worst of all, the study rooms are not fully enclosed. There's a gap at the top of the wall that allows sound to travel. This means that any sort of calls or group work results in the sounds traveling in to the rest of the library.

Very nice library! I was a little disappointed that a lot of the kids section is devoted to the Schooner Cove, which is only for very young kids, but there is a lot for older kids to do. I recently went there with my 7 year old and we spent 2 hours exploring the upper section where he could get a 3-D printed leaf, weave some yarn, code a tiny robot and fold some cranes. The librarians were very helpful and talked well to my son. They have a large pin toy that we ended up having a lot of fun with. Who knew!

I have to start off by saying this is the most bizarre library I've ever been to. It's loud regardless of what day of the week it is or what time of day. Children are constantly whining, crying, and screaming. I have no problem with kids learning while they play, even if it is in a library, but these kids act very spoiled and disrespectful. It makes for an unpleasant atmosphere. The organization of the books is sloppy, they're all compacted together, spilling over to the sides, etc. Not to mention the building is really small!! The book aisles are super narrow. You find yourself saying 'excuse me' a lot because you can't avoid being in another person's way. It gets irritating though, because it always feels like someone's breathing down your neck. Patrons are often are the lowest common denominator of society. I have seen soooo many weirdos, along with people who looked like they were on drugs. I guess on the plus side the library is quiet sometimes during the fall and winter, but in the spring and summer it's extremely chaotic. I live local to the area, but I go over to Perryville when I want to read or check out DVDs. I've also been to the Abingdon and Bel Air branches. All three of these libraries are quiet no matter what season of the year it is. This place is nothing but an indoor playground disguised as a library. If you plan on getting work done, or you're simply a bookworm, spare yourself a headache and go to some other branch in the county.
